MY XXL LINE A !

Line A is already 24 years old!

Due to its success*, Line A is often saturated at peak hours; many people often have to wait on the platform for the next trains... The Metro trains are 26 metres long and can carry 160 passengers per train.

By the end of 2019, Line A will have become extra large (XXL): with 52-metre trains, it will offer twice as much passenger space, and greater comfort. It will also be more attractive and improve traffic flow.

* + 45 % passengers in 10 years.

Line A needs to be completely closed for tunnel safety repairs.

Line A will be closed to passengers from Monday 17 July to Sunday 20 August 2017, thereby taking advantage of the summer period when most of the working population and students are on holiday.

While the Metro is closed for 35 days, Tisséo has organised a summer transport network without Line A, in order to facilitate your travel.

MAJOR RENOVATION AND CONSTRUCTION WORK

  1. 1 -

    BASSO CAMBO GARAGE-WORKSHOP

To operate Line A with 52-metre trains the Basso Cambo garage-workshop will have to be adapted.

  2. 2 -

    BASSO CAMBO STATION

The platforms of this open-air station will be extended to allow for 52-metre trains.

  3. 3 -

STATIONS MERMOZ, PATTE D’OIE, FONTAINE LESTANG

The structure of these three stations does not currently accommodate 52 -metre trains; this will require extending underground civil engineering structures.  The smoke extraction system and emergency exits will also be brought into compliance.

  4. 4 -

    ESQUIROL STATION

The remaining work required to allow this station to operate with 52-metre platforms involves:

    • extending the platform façades,
    • building emergency exits,
    • bringing the smoke extraction system into compliance.
  5. 5 -

    STATION JEAN JAURÈS

The work to be carried out involves:

    • extending the platforms of Line A to 52 metres,
    • reorganising  traveler-traffic flow to avoid saturation, in particular by improving the exchange links between the Line A and Line B.

ALL THE OTHER STATIONS already have 52-metre platforms. The adjustments concern non-structural work, such as fixtures and fittings, the compliance of the smoke extraction system, and the creation of additional emergency exits, if necessary.
